Wake Forest day trip

FirstMan has had the opportunity to take a class at Southern_Baptist.Theological_Seminary in Wake.Forest on a sprinkling of Saturdays over the next few months. The topic: homeschooling- with the goal to familiarize future pastors, current homeschool families, or those seeking to do so in order to be adequately informed and be prepared to minister to other families or your own family in this endeavor.

Yesterday was his 2nd session, and we all decided to pack up and travel together this time. We packed a breakfast, lunch and dinner picnic and enjoyed a crisp, sunny day hanging out in unfamiliar territory. Wake Forest has a lovely (yet tiny) library in town with a little park right next to it (less than 2 mi from seminary). On the same grounds was a little frozen pond that was starting to thaw in the sun a bit, and the 4 munchkins greatly enjoyed tossing rocks and poking it with sticks to crack it apart. (and thankfully, it was surrounded by a fence so they couldn't get close enough to mush around in it)

At lunch, FirstMan took us on a walking tour of the seminary campus. It's beautiful even in the dead of winter. The photo is in front of P.atterson Hall...which is the newest building on campus and named after Mr. Paige P. who guest spoke at IHCC a few times in the past. The kids were fascinated by the steam billowing from manholes around campus, as we learned that they have a steam heating system for all their facilities (I have no idea how that works!!)

We picked up ApplestoApplesJr from the local Walmart and took it to the lovely tiny library and played awhile, and before we knew it, Daddy was out of class and we took the 3 hr. trek home.

Next time we head that way, we have a fun opportunity to spend the day with Tyler&Tiff.Schmidt while Daddy is in class. They live within 30 min. of the seminary, from what I understand.
